At digitalLIFT, strong community partnerships are at the heart of our mission to bridge the digital divide. We are proud to partner with the City of Fairfield Adult Recreation Center, a welcoming community hub that has played an essential role in helping older adults gain access to technology and digital skills training.
Since launching classes at the Adult Recreation Center last year, we have worked together to provide free Android tablets and digital literacy training to community members. This work is made possible through funding from Solano County and the California Public Utilities Commission’s California Advanced Services Fund (CASF) Adoption Account, which supports digital inclusion initiatives that expand access to technology, digital skills, and broadband adoption in underserved communities. Participants receive a free Android tablet and attend hands-on classes that help them build confidence using technology for communication, accessing resources, online safety, entertainment, and everyday tasks.
The success of these classes would not be possible without the dedication and support of the Adult Recreation Center staff. The team consistently ensures that classrooms are prepared and ready for instruction, provides IT support when needed, and creates a positive learning environment where participants feel comfortable asking questions and exploring new technology.

The City of Fairfield Adult Recreation Center is deeply committed to serving its community, and that commitment is reflected in the level of interest in these classes, which often fill one to two months in advance. To meet the growing need, we expanded our partnership this year to offer monthly classes, providing even more opportunities for residents to participate.
Together, digitalLIFT and the City of Fairfield Adult Recreation Center have helped 47 participants receive Android tablets and digital skills training. Beyond providing devices, these classes empower participants with the knowledge and confidence to navigate today’s digital world, stay connected with family and friends, and access important online services.
We are grateful for our partnership with the City of Fairfield Adult Recreation Center, as well as the support of the Solano County and California Public Utilities Commission’s CASF Adoption Account, which makes programs like this possible. We also extend our sincere thanks to Independent Living Resources for their invaluable assistance in fielding inquiries and screening participants’ eligibility, ensuring that those who need these services most are able to access them. Together, we are creating lasting opportunities for community members to learn, connect, and thrive.
