At digitalLIFT, our board members bring a wide range of experiences and perspectives, all united by a shared commitment to advancing digital inclusion. This month, we’re proud to spotlight Sai Lolayekar, our Treasurer and a member of both the Finance and Executive Committees.
A “Why” Rooted in Experience
With more than 25 years in the technology sector, Sai has seen firsthand how rapidly innovation can change lives. From the rise of the internet to the widespread use of smartphones and the growing impact of AI, he has worked at the forefront of technological transformation.
But alongside those advances, he has also witnessed a growing divide.
“I’ve seen how powerful these tools can be for people who know how to use them,” Sai says. “And I’ve also seen how quickly others can be left behind without the right access or support.”
That dual perspective is what led him to join the digitalLIFT board. For Sai, it’s an opportunity to apply his experience in technology and corporate leadership toward ensuring more people can benefit from the digital world.
A Career at the Intersection of Innovation and Impact
Sai’s professional journey spans strategy, innovation, partnerships, and go-to-market leadership across the global technology landscape.
He currently serves on the business development team at Amazon Web Services (AWS), where he leads transformation initiatives that help organizations adopt emerging technologies and build high-impact solutions. Prior to AWS, Sai managed sales and partnerships at Wipro across emerging markets in India and Southeast Asia. He began his career at Dell, working in product development and operations.
This breadth of experience gives him a unique perspective on how technology can scale, and how important it is to ensure that scale benefits everyone.
Why Digital Inclusion Matters
For Sai, digital inclusion is not just a social issue. It is fundamental to opportunity.
“In today’s world, digital access touches everything, from education and employment to healthcare and social connection,” he says. “I’ve been fortunate to have that access throughout my life, and I’ve seen the doors it can open.”
That sense of opportunity comes with a sense of responsibility. Sai is deeply motivated to help ensure others have the same chance to learn, grow, and thrive in a digital world.
How You Can Make a Difference
Sai believes that advancing digital inclusion is something everyone can play a role in.
He encourages people to get involved in ways that match their interests and availability. Volunteering to teach digital skills at local libraries or senior centers is a powerful way to make a direct impact. Supporting organizations like digitalLIFT through donations or board service helps expand programs and reach more communities. And advocating for digital equity with local, state, and federal leaders ensures that this work remains a priority at every level.
Outside the Boardroom
When he’s not working or volunteering, Sai enjoys reading, particularly books that explore the history of technology and engineering.
He’s currently reading The Path Between the Seas by David McCullough, which tells the story of the Panama Canal’s construction. The book highlights decades of perseverance in the face of enormous technical, political, and human challenges, a theme that resonates deeply with Sai’s appreciation for innovation and progress.
Looking Ahead
After nearly a decade of involvement with digitalLIFT, Sai reflects most on the people.
“I’ve had the privilege of meeting so many passionate individuals who are committed to this mission,” he says. “We all come from different backgrounds, but we share a common vision of strengthening communities through access to technology.”
That shared vision continues to drive Sai’s work on the board and helps shape digitalLIFT’s future, one where communities everywhere can thrive through technology.
