At digitalLIFT, we believe that everyone deserves the knowledge and confidence to navigate today’s digital world safely. Thanks to the generous support of the National Council on Aging (NCOA), we have been able to help older adults build essential cybersecurity skills and receive personalized technology support that empowers them to stay connected.
Through this grant, our team successfully delivered four Cybersecurity Basics workshops, reaching 56 older adult learners in the Bay Area. The workshops combined the high-quality AT&T Digital Literacy Resources with digitalLIFT’s own Internet Safety curriculum, giving participants practical strategies to recognize scams, create strong passwords, protect personal information, and safely use technology in their daily lives.
Learning doesn’t end when the workshop is over. Between December 2025 and May 2026, we also hosted 35 Connected Learning Office Hours, providing one-on-one technology support to 135 learners. These sessions gave participants the opportunity to ask questions about their own devices, troubleshoot technology challenges, and receive personalized guidance in a welcoming, supportive environment.
One of the learners shared the impact this work has had:
“I really enjoyed the workshop and having access to expert teachers. I was able to alert a friend that she had her account compromised after noticing the irregular emails from her. I feel much more comfortable now and can more easily change my privacy settings. Thank you.”
— Anna, workshop participant
Anna’s experience demonstrates how digital literacy extends beyond individual learning. When people gain the confidence to recognize cybersecurity threats, they also become trusted resources within their families and communities, helping others stay safe online.
We are deeply grateful to the National Council on Aging (NCOA) for investing in digital inclusion and online safety for older adults. This partnership has enabled us to equip more community members with the skills and confidence they need to navigate an increasingly digital world while reducing their risk of online fraud and scams.
As technology continues to evolve, digitalLIFT remains committed to providing accessible, multilingual, and learner-centered digital literacy programs that help people of all backgrounds thrive. We look forward to working with more partners to build on this momentum and continue creating safer, more connected communities.
Thank you, NCOA, for making this work possible.
