A Year That Tested Our Field

2025 was a year marked by both undeniable challenge and incredible innovation across the digital inclusion landscape. While many communities made powerful strides toward expanding connectivity, affordability, and skills access, practitioners everywhere felt the lingering pressure of widening gaps:

• Rising costs of devices and broadband continued to stretch family budgets.
• Rapid AI advancements left many adults (especially older learners) feeling overwhelmed and underprepared.
• Workforce shifts created new demands for digital navigation, requiring more intensive support at libraries, nonprofits, and community hubs.
• Healthcare and benefits systems relied even more heavily on complex online portals, increasing the burden on populations least equipped to navigate them.
  

Yet despite these pressures, the digital inclusion field demonstrated remarkable resilience. It adapted, collaborated, and innovated. 

And this is why a moment of recognition matters. 

Before we launch ourselves into a new year of work, we’re gathering to honor the perseverance, creativity, and collective strides that defined 2025.
