At Community Tech Network (CTN), we are proud to spotlight the incredible work of the Kentucky Health Center Network (KHCN), a pivotal organization dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of over 600,000 Kentuckians through its member health centers.
About KHCN
KHCN is a membership organization supporting Kentucky’s Community Health Centers. Their mission centers on promoting quality care, implementing best practices, and ensuring continuous improvement across their network.
By fostering care coordination, reducing healthcare costs, and enhancing health outcomes, KHCN is a cornerstone of community health in Kentucky. Their commitment to innovation and technological advancement is a driving force behind population health improvements statewide.
Partnering for Digital Equity
KHCN recently enrolled eight healthcare workers across its network in CTN’s LIFT Navigator package for Digital Equity & Healthcare. This customized course package empowers healthcare workers with essential tools and training to address the intersection of digital equity and health outcomes. Participants gain an understanding of:
- Digital Equity’s Impact on Health: Exploring how the digital divide affects access to care and social determinants of health.
- Digital Tools for Health Management: Identifying resources to help patients manage their physical and mental health digitally.
- Client Privacy Expertise: Addressing privacy concerns and health data confidentiality.
- Digital Barriers: Developing strategies to overcome barriers that hinder patient healthcare access.
- Digitally-Inclusive Care Practices: Promoting digital skills training to make patients’ communities more accessible.
KHCN’s Vision for Digital Literacy
Led by Lindsay Nelson, MSW, Chief Operating Officer, KHCN has set an ambitious goal to expand digital equity and literacy within its network of 26 health centers. Recognizing that the digital divide impacts patient access to care, KHCN is tackling this challenge by building the capacity of healthcare workers to train their peers and engage patients with technology.
In its pilot phase, KHCN is focusing on training a small cohort of workers, with the intention of scaling up these efforts in the future. This initiative reflects their commitment to equipping certified community health workers with the tools they need to empower patients and improve health outcomes.
Looking Ahead
As KHCN continues its work to bridge the digital divide in healthcare, CTN is honored to support their efforts. By combining their vision with our LIFT training, we’re helping to lay the groundwork for a more digitally inclusive healthcare system in Kentucky.
