We’re excited to share that CTN is heading to Orlando, Florida for the On Aging 2025 Conference, taking place April 21–24. This is one of the largest national gatherings focused on issues related to aging, and we’re proud to announce that CTN team members will be presenting three inspiring sessions.
We will be presenting at three sessions that highlight the powerful impact of digital literacy in the lives of older adults. We’ll be joined by our partners at Curry Senior Center, Archstone Foundation, the University of Southern California to share real stories, best practices, and tools that empower older adults to thrive in a digital world.
Breaking Ageism: Enhancing Self-Perception through Digital Skills
📅 April 23, 2025
⏰ 3:30 PM – 4:30 PM Eastern
In this session, CTN and Curry Senior Center will explore how learning digital skills helps older adults feel more confident, independent, and in control of their lives. We’ll dive into how digital inclusion programs can transform self-perception, especially for those who have faced ageist attitudes or felt left behind in the tech world. You’ll hear inspiring stories of older adults who’ve gone from tech beginners to community leaders—some even becoming peer digital navigators, helping others get connected and stay connected.
Health-Related Technology Use: Statewide Digital Divide Program Findings
📅 April 24, 2025
⏰ 8:00 AM – 9:00 AM Eastern
In 2021, California Department of Aging launched a statewide program – Connections, Health, Aging, and Technology (CHAT) – to address the digital divide vulnerable, socially isolated older adults face. In partnership with Area Agencies on Aging, 3,000+ older adults received iPads with internet and digital literacy training. In addition to alleviating feelings of loneliness as intended, important findings indicated that older adults used their tablets and skills acquired to accomplish health-related goals, such as managing prescriptions, telehealth appointments, and finding providers, demonstrating the critical contribution of digital device distribution programs and digital literacy training to the health and well-being of older adults. CTN’s Founding Executive Director, Kami Griffths, will be speaking alongside Carly Roman from the Archstone Foundation and Sheila Salinas Navarro from the University of Southern California.
Empowering Older Adults as Lifelong Learners
📅 April 24, 2025
⏰ 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM Eastern
This session focuses on how ongoing digital learning and social support systems can reduce isolation and encourage long-term engagement. We’ll highlight the success of CTN’s Q&A follow-up sessions and Curry Senior Center’s Senior Vitality Program—both designed to keep older adults connected and growing even after they complete basic training. These programs offer community, confidence, and consistent support, helping older adults continue learning, connect across generations, and feel empowered in their daily lives.
Connect with CTN
We can’t wait to connect with others at the On Aging 2025 conference who are working to make aging more equitable, empowered, and digitally inclusive. If you’re attending the event in Orlando, we hope you’ll join us for these sessions and learn more about the work we do.
See you there!
