Girls Inc. of San Antonio empowers young women. With a mission to inspire girls to be strong, smart, and bold, this nonprofit serves girls ages 6–18 through year-round programs that focus on STEM, leadership, mental wellness, and life skills. Their pro-girl environment is designed to support every aspect of a girl’s development — academic, emotional, and social — while also connecting families to the resources they need to thrive.
Empowering Girls to Lead
At its core, the Digital Ambassadors program is about more than just learning how to use technology. It’s about building confidence, leadership, and real-world experience. One ambassador is even taking her skills to the next level, researching ways to improve community engagement through creative marketing strategies. Valentina Martinez, an 11th grader and longtime Girls Inc. participant, joined the Eureka! program in 8th grade and now serves as a Digital Ambassador. As part of her work with Bibliotech Public Library, she has developed fall programming to boost community engagement, including holiday-themed crafts, storytime activities, and a social media plan to support them.

Rain Wammack, program coordinator at Girls Inc., says:
“Girls Inc. supports the whole girl. What I love most is knowing I’m making a real impact—helping girls navigate intersectional challenges and encouraging them to build a more equitable world.”

Launching the Digital Ambassadors Program
This summer, Girls Inc. of San Antonio launched a new initiative: the Digital Ambassadors Program. Supported by a grant from Methodist Healthcare Ministries, the program is part of the broader Digital Skills and Literacy Equity Initiative. The idea is simple but powerful: train girls to become digital literacy leaders in their own communities.
The new Digital Ambassadors program enrolled 10 Girls Inc. participants who committed to completing 12 hours of digital training and 40 hours of service. Their service includes providing tech support to family and neighbors, volunteering at local libraries, and helping host monthly ElderTech events focused on digital skills for older adults.
Hands-On Learning … and Teaching
As of early July, all 10 ambassadors have completed their training and have started their service work. They’re currently volunteering at Bibliotech Nina, a digital library and community hub. There, they support the librarian and assist patrons with digital questions and needs. The group is also volunteering at the Bazan Library in July, offering real-time digital support and continuing to build their confidence as tech leaders.

Partnering with digitalLIFT for Training and Tools
We’re proud to play a part in training the girls and providing key resources to the Girls Inc. program. Girls Inc. enrolled their ambassadors in digitalLIFT’s Digital Navigators Training program, which included a special focus on Teaching Digital Skills

Through this partnership, digitalLIFT also provided Girls Inc. with a full range of free device training curriculum—ready-to-use materials that allowed the Digital Ambassador program to hit the ground running without the burden of building a curriculum from scratch.
The Digital Ambassador program is already showing promise, giving girls a chance to grow their skills while giving back. And thanks to the collaboration between Girls Inc., digitalLIFT, and community partners like Bibliotech, it’s clear that the future is both bright—and boldly digital.
At digitalLIFT we are committed to supporting youth-serving organizations with training, tools, and curriculum designed to build digital confidence and leadership.
