AT&T contribution will help expand digital literacy in underserved communities
AT&T awarded a $50,000 contribution to digitalLIFT, formerly Community Tech Network, as part of AT&T’s commitment to help bridge the digital divide and connect communities.
digitalLIFT will use the contribution to train support staff and volunteers at 10 AT&T Connected Learning Centers in California who will in turn offer digital literacy training to students, older adults and their families.
“We are deeply grateful to AT&T for their ongoing support of digitalLIFT’s mission,” said Kami Griffiths, Founding Executive Director. “This generous grant will allow us to expand our professional development programs and provide critical digital inclusion resources to Connected Learning Centers across California, helping more people gain the skills and confidence they need to thrive in today’s digital world.”
Established in 2008, digitalLIFT is a nonprofit dedicated to strengthening communities by providing essential technology training and resources. They offer a wide range of digital inclusion services, including bilingual digital literacy instruction, training for trainers and managers, multilingual curriculum, evaluation and reporting, and more. By equipping both learners and educators with the tools they need, digitalLIFT helps reduce the digital divide and fosters economic and social opportunity across the country.
Over the last 10 years, AT&T has supported digitalLIFT with grants totaling more than $120,000 to support digital literacy training programs, and community education and workshops covering the Affordable Connectivity Program, Access from AT&T, and the Digital Learn program.
“We’re committed to helping ensure that every community is able to thrive in the digital age,” said Susan Santana, President, AT&T California. “AT&T is proud to collaborate with organizations like digitalLIFT to help connect more families in California with these essential resources, like digital literacy training.”
This effort is part of AT&T’s initiative to help address the digital divide through internet accessibility, affordability and safe adoption. AT&T is committing $5 billion to help 25 million people get and stay connected to high-speed internet by 2030.
