We’re excited to share that digitalLIFT has been awarded two new grants from the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) through the California Advanced Services Fund (CASF) Adoption Account! These grants will support programs in Alameda, Contra Costa, and Solano Counties — helping us bring life-changing digital skills and technology access to older adults and adults with disabilities.
East Bay Connected: Building Tech Confidence in the East Bay
Our East Bay Connected program will serve at least 172 older adults and adults with disabilities in Alameda and Contra Costa Counties. Thanks to this funding, we’ll also distribute 120 tablets to eligible participants who haven’t received a device from CPUC in the past.
Our program has a rich history and goes far beyond the basics. We offer in-person training, 8-hour basic digital skills courses, workshops focused on more advanced topics, and ongoing virtual Tech Advice sessions on Zoom — all available in English, Spanish, and Mandarin/Cantonese.
This effort builds on successful pilot workshops at Oakland Senior Centers last year, which proved how much our learners value consistent support in their native language. Now, through partnerships with local organizations like Mercy Housing, SAHA, Hayward Public Library, and the Oakland LGBTQ Center, we’re expanding our reach. East Bay Connected is designed to help participants not only learn technology, but use it to improve their daily lives, stay connected to loved ones, and access essential services.
Solano County: A Growing Coalition for Digital Equity
In Solano County, we’ve received a grant to bring digital inclusion programs to 120 older adults and adults with disabilities. The grant will allow us to distribute 120 tablets and provide small-group digital skills training, tech workshops, and online Q&A sessions in English, Spanish, and Tagalog.
This work builds upon digitalLIFT’s partnership with Solano County and supports the broader goals of Solano Connected, a local coalition dedicated to bridging the digital divide. Our program will offer in-person classes at trusted community locations like the Suisun City Senior Center and the Solano County Library. Looking ahead, we’ll also offer train-the-trainer support to local organizations, empowering more community members to serve as digital navigators and extend our impact well into the future!
A Continued Commitment to Digital Inclusion
At digitalLIFT, our mission is to strengthen communities by providing essential tech training and resources. We believe everyone deserves the skills, tools, and support they need to thrive in today’s connected world. These new grants help us do just that—supporting our vision of communities where technology works for everyone.
